Gone are the days when one had to write a letter and wait for it to fly to the owner with a hope to get a reply either negative or positive. ‘RTS’ or ‘I received your letter’. A process that would take a whole month just to send a simple message. Blessed are these days when such a message is sent and in a twinkle of an eye a reply and an action comes forth.

But what do all these blessings bear in our lives. Radiation! Everybody now can claim they own a cell phone including primary and secondary kids. Mmh. An improvement in deed! But, could we be digging our own graves without knowing? The mobile industry happens to be a multibillion dollar industry, no wonder the monster ‘Radiation’ is like a blessing to this business and a curse to the owner of a cell phone.

Please take a look at your cell phone here and know how much radiation it emits. At least by taking this into consideration you will have a plan on which type of cell phone you may opt for just to stop too much exposure. I don’t mind if you would get rid of that fancy big and gorgeous phone and replace it with low radiation phone that respects your life.

One thing you should keep in mind is that closeness to any kind of radiation as explained here can cause health risks and hence should be avoided as much as possible.

Cell phones are one example among others including cordless phones, blue tooth wireless devices, wireless video cameras, tv extenders, satellites, police radios, door openers, door securities, cell tower antennas, garage doors etc.

The Painful Facts

Each cell phone company connects to various cell towers to provide you with the network you need. When traveling the cell phone keeps searching for the network transmission of the nearest stationed tower. Therefore even when your phone is quiescent it still emits radiation. If you have placed your phone anywhere next to your body cells, then you are in danger of RF Exposure. What is the hidden truth? We have to live with it!

The over reliance on a cell phone on our day to day activities has caged us into this reality. With the demand for cellphones, more antennas have to be installed covering wider areas to provide the networks, this pursues more danger.

What hurts the most is what people have to do to provide technologies that expose people with dangerous risks for their lives, while same technologies are welcome with open arms. While same people purchase same technologies that are meant to take them to the grave!

The human body can conduct electricity. It is an electric system and can be affected by RF and micro waves. This can lead to body malfunction and chances are that one can get exposed to cancer, nervours systems, immune systems, organ problems, tumors etc.

There is no report that has ever proved all this information but most scientists and doctors have reported more often that they are a great risk. The WHO study does not clearly show any danger of cell phones causing cancer or dangerous health risk. This study is almost 10 years older and therefore can not be relied upon for current issues.

You may not know how susceptible your body is to RF and microwave exposure until one day it dawns on you. Tying a cell phone around your waist may seem too executive but you may be risking your kidneys. The pride of owning one of the best cell phones on earth, to create competition, or even owning a lavish lifestyle full of gadgets that radiate dangerous waves could be the silent killer. Children thinking that this is their time to embrace technology and they can now own cell phones, failure to which they become the laughing stalk in schools is the order of the day. And how hard headed they are! would you dare counsel one?

The risks being reported by many concerned doctors, scientists and researchers are worth taking note of than ignoring. The multibillion dollar companies need to raise their standards in combating this phenomenon to minimize the risks of exposure to radiation through mobile phones and other dangerous radiation emitting gadgets.

Learning how to use your phone to minimize radiation and the risks associated with it is very important. These tips will guide you through on cell phone safety. Do not be ignorant on such warnings. (By Elizabeth Cohen) CNN Medical Correspondent (gives viable tips on handling your cell phones and/or take a look at These 8 safety tips.

I believe you have learned something today! thank you for visiting. You are welcome again and again.

As Swine Flu finds its way to African countries, more cases are being reported and in various parts of Kenya alerting the Ministry of health that it is time to act. Awareness of Swine Influenza should reach everyone even to the most illiterate to avoid cases of severity or death.

Get to know what this monster (swine flu) is!

[tag-tec]Swine flu[/tag-tec] also called swine influenza is an infection by a type of a virus commonly found in pigs. It could be a type C or a type A, with H1N1 (now a pandemic), H1N2 and H1N3 all type A’s being the most common. H1N1 is now an alert by the World Health Organization as a global outbreak, baptized as the 2009 flu pandemic, where the first case was reported in April 2009 in Mexico. The pandemic started branching out to other states including Africa. Now evident in Kenya are cases of a number of schools already fighting the swine flu pandemic.

The Transmission!

Swine flu spreads from one person to the other when they sneeze, cough (airborne) or handle already contaminated objects or people and then touch their noses or mouths (contact). According to CDC (http://www.cdc.gov/flu/swineflu/key_facts.htm) people can not get swine flu by eating pork, but cooking the pork well will save you the headache.

How do you know you have Swine Flu?

Symptoms of swine flu last about a weak after transmission (contact with the virus) before manifestation. Just like the common flu (seasonal flu) symptoms include pain in the joints, low energy, headaches, coughing, sore throat, and fever among others. It can be very severe if someone has a weak immunity or have serious diseases like diabetes. If you realize you have such symptoms please rush to your doctor, or health center for testing.

So, what are the Prevention / Protection Measures?

Definitely as you read on the common symptoms, the prevention/protection measures are self explanatory as it is just like the seasonal flu. The only thing you need to understand is that, since there is no vaccine out yet, it is good to take it very serious and follow the guidelines as advised by most health personnel and hospitals. Prevention is better than cure and just like the transmission sounds, doing what can protect you and others is the best step to take. If you are already infected, the best thing to do is to stay indoors and avoid going to overcrowded places like the workplace, schools, hospitals etc. When sneezing and there is another person with you remember always to cover your nose and mouth with a clean cloth (handkerchief).

If you feel you are healthy, it is good but do not ignore that the swine flu could be with your neighbour. Make sure you wash your hands more often, chances are that public surfaces that you come into contact with could contain the virus.

It is advisable to keep a distance from sick people who are sneezing and coughing to avoid breathing the contaminated air. Also consider saying hi without really shaking hands, kissing or hugging (body contact) especially at this period of swine flu pandemic. Keep informed too of the developments of swine flu control as this will help you plan ahead, for example when there is likely to have a vaccine available.

Swine flu control in Kenya.

As other countries struggle through with the swine flu pandemic, Kenya is not left out. A case of 20yr old British student, who spread the virus to a girlfriend, gave way for fellow students to the girlfriend which paved its way to the country. The cases were later reported in various schools including Kenya high school, sacred heart boy’s high school, St. Joseph Seminary and kiboron Secondary School in Nakuru.

With the few cases, no negativity has resulted in bases of death, meaning Kenya is able to control the pandemic. Quarantine is one of the many options being used. The school headmasters and ministry of health officials met to discuss the way forward and a need arose for all the head of schools to be sensitized on how to spot and manage swine flu just in case it arises. Currently the school movements have been banned involving students going home for half terms or undertaking events that make them meet socially like sports, drama festivals and others.

Swine flu can be very severe and can cause death if not distinguished early and acted upon. It is important to be aware of this and take action when it is needed.

Bike accidents are not the best to watch especially when they happen on a normal day when the owner is in the dash to make a living. It hurts a lot to know that the uplift in life from a bicycle to a bike lifestyle bears death or disability due to increased accidents. It all means you make triple or more of what you have been making when you were using a bicycle. But now, the more people own bikes the more there are confusions in the roads and the more the accidents happen.

Take for example a story appearing on the Standard newspaper in Kenya dated Thursday September 24, 2009. A pastor, was bought a bike by the church and just before entering to the church for the first time with it, it took his life in front of the worshipers. Well a mystery no one can understand, could it be the worshipers underestimated what God by buying him a bike instead of a car? well its only normal to think 70,000 Kshs. would fit to buy a junk car or a new bike anyway, just a question unanswered but the fact remains it was a bike accident. While Shadrack Kemboi recovers at Kitale District after an accident, who vows he will never ride a motorbike again. Many cases around the world everyday are witnessed of bikes taking people’s lives, so it is a world catastrophe. But what do we do?

My biggest Question!
Is the solution banning the buying of the motorbikes by those who can afford? Is it banning motorbike public transport services? or is it dealing with a long term road construction plan that reserves a pavement for the motorbikes and bicycles?

Improvement of Transport in remote areas

It is notable that most motorbike services have improved transport in most remote places especially where the roads are depleted. Back at home the public service vehicles are only three making the transport quite difficult. The sudden rise in bike buying has positively supported this area to the point where growth is remarkable.

Creation of Jobs for the Youths and Bike Sellers

The motorbikes service increase has amazingly added value in job creation in Kenya and East Africa too. In Rwanda, bikes and bicycles add up to the biggest means of transport especially considering the hilly conditions of the country. There are places in Rwanda that only bikes and bicycles can penetrate. Considering that every bike and bicycle has a driver who is actively looking for money all day long then it is a worthy course to take. At least one youth is no longer idle and that youth becomes an example to those around him changing their life styles positively. We may say that it is a copy con norm in the Kenyan business world buy I somehow see jobs created. Bike sellers for sure is recording the biggest boom in business this time round. Every youth works hard to buy a bike to enter into some business or may be take him to work. So it is all smiles for these businesses.

Yet another big Q! why are the accidents on the rise?

Just a simple thought and a straightforward answer, bikes and bicycles will never go along with cars, the two must be separated. The funny thing is, as much as bikes follow the traffic rules, they still break some by impatience and assumption that “after all mine is a small peace of moving metal, quickly I can drive past the [red stop sign]”. It might take us the next 10 years, but I suggest that expanding our roads to accommodate our aggressive youths in bicycles and bikes would be a worthy course. We will have saved uncountable life and will also give courage to the ones who owe the machines but are afraid to ride them.

Another thing, are these drivers of these little machines really experienced or passed? do they have drivers licences? As long as I know, they buy bikes, get into them, stagger a little on the road, heart themselves a bit, and “on we go! am a great driver”. The next thing you see them do is appear on the line to pick up passengers in greed for money.

Is this really the way forward? Some bike drivers even do not follow the rules of wearing a helmet and having an extra one for the passenger. It is all risk taking and this could be the highest causes of death in most accidents. What is the Kenyan government or other governments doing to make sure that they minimize bike accidents? Most of our youths own either bikes or bicycles, I believe we can not just keep quite and watch as our youths become victims of bike accidents.

There is also the rise in crime and misconduct in the roads as a result of increased bike and bicycle public services. I believe this can be minimized if there was a plan and a law in place to control their activities

Rain affects the microwave signals from the [tag-tec]satellite[/tag-tec], the heavier the rain the greater the loss. A larger satellite dish will have a better signal margin to cater for the loss due to rainwater.

C band satellite dish is usually big in size whereas a KU band dish is smaller. The Big KU band dish is usually used for special purpose and not meant for home use.

Nobody would like to have a big satellite dish in his compound while a small dish occupies a small space and is capable of providing same services This is one of the reasons why we rush to buy the smaller satellite dishes and anything else is of no significance to stop us.

I want to talk about one of those merits that make us regret discarding our old big satellite antennas. It is common for a small KU band dish to lose signal reception when it is raining, whilst all is well and ok with the big C band dish.

This fact made me like to know why I came to realize that satellite signal is microwave and microwave happens to suffer from attenuation due to atmosphere, i.e. water and oxygen molecules at high frequencies. This becomes worse when it is raining and the loss depends upon water volume.

Your small KU band satellite dish is designed to receive signals, which are transmitted at high frequencies from 10 to 17 GHz, while the bigger C band is designed to receive at lower frequency range of about 4 GHz. You can only improve your system from this trouble by increasing the size of your KU band dish or opting for Cable TV.

River Nile is a big river running from Lake Victoria all the way through Sudan, to Egypt and pours into the Mediterranean Sea. Sudan is flat land and covered with dry land. Somewhere in the southern Sudan the river curves and meadows as it slows down through the plain land. These meadows cover a wide area and looking at it from far looks like sea only noticeable at close distance.

During the rainy seasons the river floods the whore area, and because of the heat from the desert the temperatures are high from minimum of 33 rising to 40 something degrees Celsius. Evaporation also takes place at very high rates making the whole area humid. The air is filled with water vapor that makes the visibility poor. The weather improves in the after noon when some breeze blows away the vapor and some clouds cover the sky and cools down the place throughout the night.

I went there sometime to install three satellite antennas, namely a 12 feet C band dish to receive some Russian news for the workers at the camp, one 90 cm KU band dish meant.

Safaricom is your better option! You are Happy to be a Kenyan,
MPESA is one of it’s kind service started by one of our own Largest Companies, Safaricom. Thumbs up to [tag-tec]Safaricom[/tag-tec]. Being a new service you expect such hitches as delays, suspensions and failures especially when the systems are going through upgrading.

Some upgrades may not always be guaranteed and so it can work or fail. Whichever way, Safaricom, the better option, is always at its foots to offer the best service, and its fast with its customer service.

You are discouraged!
So, you have cashed in some money in your phone because you really have something urgent to achieve with your money. So, you walk in to an MPESA AGENT and browse your phone to safaricom MPESA to get some cash on your hand to sort out your urgent need. But OH! to your surprise, the systems are experiencing delays, or the systems are down. You walk from one agent to the other to no avail.

Be Smart!
Do not over-rely on [tag-tec]MPESA[/tag-tec] for all your deals. It might fail you some day. Only a few coins in your phone but keep the rest in your bank account, at least there are ATMs these days, if you fear having cash on your hands. This way you can always rush to your bank and forego the MPESA option for that particular time. You however rest assured that your money is safe.

Ok, overcome the Blues anyway!
In case you were cashing in your phone, wait until you receive an sms from safaricom even if your agent have received one. Michael Joseph assures you though to relax, and you will get it right.

Finally, keep praising MPESA
Let us support MPESA and any upcoming services like ZAP involving mobile banking and payment services. This will improve Kenya’s economy in such a way that even that guy in the village solves his problems fast. Now that you know MPESA is the only service in the world and one of its kind, why not be proud of it. Praise it, and the engineers and thinkers behind will keep doing a good Job.

What Africans are Missing!
A service that can finally give Africans a service to receive money and send money world wide and that means doing business online. A merchant account! Imagine Mama Mboga online kiosk!. Let me give you a secret, only moneybookers can help you get some money online directly to a bank locally, and merchant account is not really supported. Paypal, is Kenya unfriendly and so it discourages a lot. So what do we do? That is where we should aim, and this Company, Safaricom, could be heading there. Give it a chance to serve you better.

But what I have never understood is why some one with a sane mind wants to continue harming their health. Although if there were not smokers, the economy of the country would be affected greatly, health issues must be personally crucial. One thing that hurts greatly is the fact that those who smoke nowadays are young women and men should be healthy mothers and fathers of tomorrow.

What is more, many of the people who smoke are also alcohol abusers a thing that adds up to their health risks.Continued Here, Cigarette smoking is harmful to your health!

Inside my pocket you find this wonderful thing known as cell phone, but if I was a future teller I will be on the right path to say that I can see the cell phone being the center of all technology and attention.

[tag-tec]Cell phones[/tag-tec] are now known as smart phones, guess by the name that the phone will be smart and will keep up with all you need to do throughout your busy schedule without missing out in anything.

The cell phones have taken over the calculator technology and most of us now, who used to carry big calculators in our pockets, are not interested to do so anymore, we rely on the cell phones to calculate and those of us who used to wear list watches let them agree with me that rarely they remember to wear their beautiful list watches or if they happen to wear them, rarely do they find themselves looking at them for time and date.

If you remember the time that we used to rely on wired telephone to convey messages, you will definitely get pissed off if your cell phone is lost and before you get another one, nothing that was being handled by your smart phone will run properly on paper manual organizer. No manual organizer can handle it, someone will need to have a whole a to z books in a week to handle what the cell phone handles in its organizer.

Looking at the banking system the mobile phone banking is so easy and convenient that you will be dared to forget the actual bank hall for petty transactions. Sending and receiving money has never been so easy.

The media industry is also taken in by the [tag-tec]cell phone[/tag-tec], considering that the phone is smart in terms of shooting videos and still pictures, anyone has it and can shoot real time incidents with it at hand. May be in the future rarely we shall find paparazzi carrying the bulky camera on their shoulders because with a cell phone there is no need to carry one. Media houses will probably be buying pictures and videos so we shall all become paparazzi rich.

The dating process is now easy with the cell phone messaging system; it is easy to write than to say, but if you want to say the cell phone will let you do it without meeting face to face. You will no longer have write a letters stuck in an envelop, buy some stamps write addresses and send it through the post office for all this is taken care of by the cell phone, letters are now easily punched on the cell phone and takes only a while to reach recipients and get replied to. It is actually very easy to store or delete unwanted messages so no need a pen, rubber paper ink, stamps post offices etc.

When an athlete need to count the time he takes to splint, or a student need to time himself for a two hours exam paper or you want to know the time taken to drive from one location to another then you don’t need a stop watch any more if you have a cell phone with you. Fitted with an alarm we are able to wake up early and get reminders of various activities without getting rate.

If someone from the moon happens to own a cell phone then its not really hard for us to tell them where we are, and this is so because our phones are now fitted with GPS technology where by we just need to use this technology and tell them the coordinate our location.

Media houses are now reaching an overwhelming audience since the cell phone has TV and Radio capability. So may be with time its not a wonder to see the TV sets and Radio systems getting very little or no attention. It is also worth to note that the mp3, mp4 and all sorts of video players might give way for cell phone players, in other words you can say that the cell phone is multimedia.

Cell phones are now used as tracking devices. It is possible to track your anything and follow communication from a minute communication bug secretly fitted within the protected area. Talking more about security the cell phone give you confidence because it is fitted with a light or a torch and if in danger you definitely have good chances to call emergency services and will say your location coordinates via GPS technology.

Cell phone also takes over the Internet system as we notice an incredible access to files over the Internet on our cell phones. I can conclude by saying that cell phones are the center of technology.

Satellite TV in Africa has lagged behind the rest of the world with little change being noticed on this technology in many years. [tag-tec]Satellite TV[/tag-tec]here has been known as analog, with most countries’ home based TV broadcasts being absent.

It is only now that Africa has noticed the digital systems slowly replace the analog systems. Thanks to South Africa for being ahead of all African countries as far as[tag-tec]satellite TV[/tag-tec] technology is concerned.

MULTICHOICE Africa a company from South Africa is dedicated to providing [tag-tec]satellite TV[/tag-tec], covering most of Africa and well known as DSTV (digital satellite TV). This pay TV carrying the slogan ‘DSTV so much more!’ speaks for itself with a package satisfying a wide range of audience.

It has also taken Africa a long time to start using the small KU band satellite dishes from enormous c band satellite dishes. This is mainly because most of the people in Africa have known [tag-tec]satellite TV[/tag-tec] to be complicated and for the rich and people prefer terrestrial broadcast.

Apparently, in less than three months, our country has been struck by one type of disaster after another, with pounding severity.

At least, the fire disasters that stole the souls of our dearly loved brothers and sisters have now ceased in both severity and frequency and it is a good thing.

The other major problem nowadays is [tag-tec]hunger[/tag-tec] at different parts of the country and stories of truly hungry Kenyans especially in Turkana districts are appearing on the media every single day.

It is even becoming embarrassingly obvious that because they have got nothing to eat, wild fruits that are to the extreme, poisonous, have become their everyday source of food.

Eating wild fruits is something those who grew up in the farms did and are still doing not because of [tag-tec]hunger[/tag-tec] but because it is a children fun activity.

Never in those days when I was young did I see adults eating wild fruits, in any case, we ate them in hiding to prevent thorough beatings.

Now that I am a grown up, it pains me to see that even the adults in Turkana land do not have a choice other than these fruits.

Back in those days, my punishment was a few beatings and I would still eat more the following day, while these people have a much bigger price to pay like diarrhea or death if they do not eat them.

This is not the first time that people from these very arid and underdeveloped parts of our country have gone for a long time without food and water.

What they need right now is an urgent help with food donations they can eat but this will definitely not be the end of their [tag-tec]hunger[/tag-tec], if a long-term solution will not be found by the government.

It is times like these that many of us wish such people could be given the unconditional attention they have not benefited from for many years back.

They are not only suffering from food shortage but other important social amenities are both few and distant.

It is only a small number of of us who can survive in such harsh climatic conditions and poverty, which is why the Turkana men and women are creditable.

Very critical decisions now need to be made concerning how such a problem alone can be met in the future without having to depend on other well wishers to donate maize.

Rain is also very little annually in these parts and therefore dams and boreholes would be a good forward step to at least ensure that these people are encouraged to grow their own food crops in the future.

In the mean time, all Kenyans and me are only looking up to the government to bring these people food because it would be upsetting to loose more lives through [tag-tec]hunger[/tag-tec].

Tribute also goes to the people of this entire nation for contributing their donations in form of food, prayers, or in whichever way, because it shows that they care for each other.
